I will do my best to have some short vacation or travel as a treat to myself. As usual any trip of vacation will be joined together with my family or friends. Before the Covid 19 hit the world, me and my family had planned to go for quick gateway at Cameron Highland, Pahang for 3 days at the end of January 2020. We wanted to spend our family time in a cool and breezy place. So, we choose to go to Cameron Highland. It was a quick and spontaneous plan. My aunt was wondering, why not if we do a family holiday during the Chinese New Year celebration. Basically, we planned 1 week earlier to set the accommodation and several attractions to visit there.
Of course, i took charged regarding the holiday's itinerary. I searched and listed out some cool attractions and booked a homestay there. The homestay that we booked was great and nice location. Alright, let me tell you the interesting attractions that we've visited. We woke up 6am in the morning and started the journey at almost 8am. We went to Cameron Highland with our own car. My sister drove her car (Metallic Black brand new Honda Civic which just bought on August 2019). It took about 5 hours to reach to Tanah Rata, Cameron Highland. Well, there was a little traffic jam to reach to Tanah Rata due to CNY holiday. But not to worry, it was not a heavy traffic at all. I took some photo and video on the way to the homestay. I could see the beautiful tea plantations along the journey to homestay. Our homestay located at Kampung Taman Sedia. The homestay provides 2 queen beds, 1 toilet, living room with TV (Astro), a balcony, a kitchen which we can cook and cooking utensils provided. In my opinion, it is the strategic location to stay compared to the center of Tanah Rata accomodation because those area are kinda busy and usually will hit with traffic jam during peak hours. Besides that, our homestay is only 1 km from Tanah Rata. We love the view and the environment of our homestay. It is so breezy and fresh at daylight and super cold at night.
First, we check in the homestay around 3pm. We put our stuffs and belongings in the homestay. We bought some fresh food and kept in the refrigerator because we do cook our own food for lunch and dinner. For your information, our homestay is very close by the famous restaurant known as Abang Strawberi Retaurant, De Bamboo Restaurant, Steamboat Restaurant and Big Red Strawberry Farm. So, the first attraction that we visited was Big Red Strawberry Farm which is 8 minutes from our homestay. It is free of charge. No need to pay entrance ticket or parking fee. It is a huge farm. Pretty easy to find but quite complicated to drive in due to narrow road entrance. The farm is located up of a hill which you need to drive up carefully. We spend time there for 2 hours. We ate the famous strawberries dessert in the farm's cafe and enjoyed the beautiful & colorful flowers there. We took a lot of photos and videos together. Then, we head back to our homestay. We took a rest, bath and cooked delicious food for family's dinner. It was so much fun for the first day although we were feeling exhausted due to the 5 hours long journey. We hung out at home at night, watched movie and enjoyed the night temperature (18oC).

We were excited for the next day. We woke up early in the morning and get ready to have breakfast at Abang Strawberi Restaurant which is just behind our homestay. But of course, we need to drive to go there because the restaurant is located under the homestay. Our homestay is kinda-up-hill area. It was so damn cold in the early morning. We breath out smoke from our mouth..LOLL! I could see the area is covered by fog. This time i drove the car to go for yummy breakfast. It took 1 minutes to go there..Super close right! We were the first customer in the restaurant. We were super hungry and can't wait to try the nasi lemak strawberi. I've never tried the sambal strawberi before. It taste different but yummy. I could taste the strawberry too. After done with the breakfast, we went to Agro Technology Park MARDI which is 8 minutes near to the restaurant. It is the largest Agro Park in Malaysia. We spend time there around 2 hours. The park is divided into six main areas: the English Garden, Herb Garden, Orchid Garden, Rose Garden, research & information centre where tourists can buy souvenirs. We went to butterfly park too. We walked and went to every garden to experience & see several unique creatures. Then we had a quick bite in the cafe there. We ate some ice-cream and chocolate dipped strawberries.

We continued our trip to Boh Tea Centre Sungai Palas. It is about 40 minutes from Kampung Taman Sedia to go there. But we were facing a heavy traffic during that day because of peak hour. Well, the route to this tea garden is a bit adventure due to the location is at the top of hill. You need to drive carefully because it is a narrow road which sometime only 1 vehicle can pass through and wait for next turn to proceed. But it is worth when you see and experience the beautiful surrounding along the route. I took a lot of photos and videos during the journey. Mind blowing! It is the most iconic boh tea centre in Cameron Highland which offer a holistic tea experience against the beautiful green background and tea field surrounding. It is the largest and oldest tea garden. The eye catching panorama is mesmerizing. After reach the tea centre, we parked the car at parking area and need to walk to go to the famous glass cafe. For senior citizen or pregnant lady, you can ask your family member to drive up and stop in front of the cafe. But the vehicle can't be parked there. It need to be park at the same parking area below. Then, we bought some tea which only can be found and buy in this tea centre only. We also had our teatime near the glassy window and enjoyed the wonderful view while sipping tea and eating delicious cakes & delicacies. It's so peaceful and sooo greeennnn!!
Next, we planned to go to Kea Garden. This is one of the famous attraction in Cameron Highland. It is near the Sungai Palas Tea Centre. It also known as Kea Farm. It is an agricultural district in Cameron Highland. It's a farmer's market and we can find a lot of fresh fruit and vegetables such as strawberries and corns. It open daily from morning till evening. Other local products also available at the market such as souvenirs, plants, cactus and many more. Our purpose to go here was to visit the Kea Garden. We bought some fresh fruit and souviners. We also got cool photoshots there. Alright, let the photo speaks!
After done with the shopping activity, we planned to go to Cactus Point to shop some cactus before head back to homestay. This is a compulsory activity to do in Cameron Highland. Cactus is cute and easy to plant. It also easy to take care of. Cactus Point has the largest cactus shop in Cameron. They sell cactus in reasonable prices. You can get 8 cactus for RM11 only. Pretty cheap right. We spend around 1 hour at Cactus Point. Hooly grail! There are sooo sooooo many types of cactus there. I can't even make up my mind on which one to pick. It seems like cactus heaven!! Those cactus are unique, cute and gorgeous. It worth every penny..*grin* Of course we bought several types of cactus to bring back home. We enjoyed choosing and picking up the cactus. Furthermore, you can give a cactus as a gift or souvenirs to your friends and family.
We were freaking tired. We quickly went back to homestay before dinner time because my aunty and my mom wanted to buy the famous corns ad sweet potatoes in Cameron Highland. It is jagung manis, jagung susu and keledek manis. We already booked those from an agent whom sell those corns and sweet potatoes. He directly delivered to our homestay. So, we need to be back home before he reach our homestay. We took a bath and cook for dinner. After ate our dinner, we hung out at the balcony and checking our shopping stuffs. Yeah, those are the fun thing that we will do after we're done shopping during travelling. Well, actually that night was a super cold night to be hung out at balcony. But who cares! We not do it everyday though. Then, we waited for the guy to send us the corns and sweet potatoes. After that, we started to pack our luggages because tomorrow morning is our last day of our trip. We slept like a baby that night because we were exhausted.
We checked out from the homestay around 11 am. We ate our breakfast and drove off to highway. It was a very wonderful short vacation in Cameron Highland, although i've been there 2 times before. Then, we stopped at Muar to try the Cendol Kampung Hulu. They say that the cendol is delicious and popular ever. So why not to give it a try. Yeah and we super love it!
CENDOL KAMPUNG HULU
I think we should do a trip like this again. A trip of holiday in our own country. Bonding time with family especially a trip like this, makes me happy and grateful. I'm sure a lot more of family vacation will be came up soon!
